25 years of regional engagements.
Below is a small selection of programmes Tristar has delivered for national oil companies, international majors and joint ventures across MENA. Names you know, problems you've worked through, outcomes that compounded over time.
Multi-discipline upstream technical training for a green-field operation in southern Iraq.
The challenge. PetroChina was bringing online a major green-field development in southern Iraq and needed to bring a newly-formed national workforce up to operational competency across multiple disciplines — without slowing the production ramp.
The programme. Tristar designed a multi-year capability programme covering oil & gas fundamentals, mechanical and electrical maintenance, instrumentation and control, HSE, and process safety. Programmes ran in classroom, workshop and on-the-job formats, with bilingual delivery (Arabic & English) and embedded instructors on site.
The outcome. A nationally-staffed operations team capable of running production, maintenance and HSE across the facility. The programme was extended into successive phases as additional disciplines came online.
A long-running national capability programme in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
The challenge. ADNOC's commitment to UAE national capability development required a partner that could deliver consistently across multiple technical disciplines and blend academic depth with field practice.
The programme. Tristar Gulf — operating from Abu Dhabi at the time — ran multi-discipline programmes spanning mechanical engineering and maintenance, electrical engineering, instrumentation and control, and reliability frameworks. Programmes combined classroom theory, workshop practice, and on-the-job placement, designed around ADNOC's own competency framework.
The outcome. A sustained pipeline of competent, certified national engineers entering ADNOC's operating units across the Emirates — and an ongoing relationship that continues to expand into new disciplines.
Nationalisation programme — taking new graduate engineers to operationally-competent over four years.
The challenge. Gulf of Suez Petroleum (BP Egypt) was preparing for a generational handover — bringing in fresh Egyptian engineering graduates to backfill retiring expat and senior national staff across upstream operations.
The programme. A four-year nationalisation programme designed against BP's competency framework. Year one covered HSE certification, oil & gas fundamentals and discipline introduction. Years two and three deepened into specialist operations and maintenance. Year four placed learners on-the-job alongside senior practitioners.
The outcome. A self-sustaining national workforce across BP Egypt's Gulf of Suez operations, with each cohort handing knowledge forward to the next intake. The framework has since been adopted by sister operating companies in the region.
On-site HSE delivery for a complex cross-border field operation.
The challenge. Shell's operations across the Basrah and Syrian fields required HSE programmes delivered in-region, in mixed-language cohorts, on accelerated timelines — without compromising the depth that process safety and incident-investigation training demands.
The programme. Tristar mobilised senior HSE practitioners on-site for permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, method statements, HAZOP/HAZID studies and incident investigation. Delivery happened in field offices and at sister-company facilities, with bilingual classroom and field-based components.
The outcome. A consistent HSE competency baseline across both operations, with subsequent extensions into wider capability areas as the operating context evolved.
